Quarantining!

We are now in our 3rd month of quarantine!  The kids’ school closed down March 17th, and the kids have been at home since then!  It’s been a very interesting time for all of us.  Kevin is working remotely from home, while Kinji is going into the clinic about twice a week in addition to putting in some weeks inpatient at the hospital as well.  Both of us are splitting up our days balancing time between watching the kids and trying to attend endless Zoom meetings and getting work done.  Despite all this, Clark and Oliver are loving their time at home.  They are super happy having their best friend to play with and having Mommy and Daddy home all the time (and getting some extra “quiet” time aka screen time).  They also have their own Zoom sessions twice a week with their preschool as well as Zoom music class once a week.

It’s been getting a lot nicer outside, so we’ve had some great outdoor time, including long walks, scooting, chalk, and bubbles.  The kids have made friends with several of the neighbors and promised one of our neighbors that they would help scare off the bunnies eating the flowers in her lovely garden.

We also unexpectedly had some snow at the end of April, which gave the kids a chance to have one last hurrah in the snow!

Here are some other pictures from quarantine, highlighting some of the uniqueness of all of this, including the kids getting a haircut from Daddy, some of our Zoom classes and calls with family, the kids helping out with making their lunches, and the kids practicing good infection control in wearing their masks!

Though this has been a crazy time, we have enjoyed having the extra time with Clark and Oliver.  Despite not going to school, they’ve maintained an intellectual curiosity about the world and have continued to enjoy reading and learning.

Current Likes:

Clark:  Unloading the dishwasher, the Hospital book, ExciteBike

Oliver:  Writing letters

Both:  Scooting, Scholastic curriculum, Khan Academy Kids, bubble baths, music class, playing with Maddie/Hannah (our mothers’ helpers), dessert, quiet time (The Lion Guard, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), reading, folding clothes, Super Mario Brothers

Current Dislikes:

Both: Skipping dessert

Happy Holidays!

It’s been awhile since we posted, so wanted to update everyone about the rest of our 2019. We’ve had a busy few months, traveling to New York, having Nana visit Newtonville, and celebrating the Holidays.

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving this year in New York followed the next week by a visit from Nana to Newtonville.

This year for the Holidays, we surprised Clark and Oliver with a return trip to Great Wolf Lodge. They had a bunch of fun going down water slides, playing arcade games, and trying out the ropes course.

We spent the Holidays in New York with Nana, Grandpa, and GG Pat. The kids were able to help decorate the Christmas tree, bake and decorate holiday cookies, and open multiple rounds of gifts. They also learned about Chanukah, and have been celebrating each night! We also had a chance to visit Parnani, Vandana Nani, and Mukesh Nana in New Jersey (and also see Shefali Mausi, Praveen Nana, Anupriya Mami, and Bharat Mama who were visiting!). We also had a fun time visiting Great Grandma Bernice!

Our beloved grandfather/great-grandfather Ramesh Chandra Sathi also passed away at the end of November, so all of us have been enjoying all of his lovely artwork and cherishing his memories. Below, we hope you enjoy some of his paintings, and if you would like to see more, his website has a lot more: http://tarangini.us/

A Wonderful Summer!

We had a great summer! We had fun at the pool, hanging out with Danielle and Julian, taking a vacation to the Cape, and going to amusement parks. The kids started in pre-K at their school, which is the last year before kindergarten starts! The elementary school that they will be going to next year has finally finished being renovated, and we were really excited to be able to tour the school and play at the new playground.

Here are some pictures hanging out at the pool, in NY, and at home this summer. They got a chance to see Grandma Bernice and Nana as well!

We had a lot of fun hanging out with Julian this summer, whether it was out to eat, at the playground, or at the zoo. He is growing so quickly, and Clark and Oliver love their cousin/friend.

Clark and Oliver started their final year of school at their preschool (Pre-K!). Here are some pictures from their first day of Pre-K:

We were able to visit a couple of amusement parks this year including Playland in New York and Storyland in New Hampshire. Clark and Oliver had a blast, and they absolutely love riding roller coasters! They are almost tall enough now to ride most rides as well, which they enjoyed.

We had a party for friends and family at a local playground as well as a small celebration at school. We’ve also had many wonderful guests including Swathi and Conal Mama, Nana and Nani, and Nana and Grandpa. Spring is Here!

After the longest winter, spring is finally here! The boys are super excited about their upcoming birthday, and they keep telling everyone that they are turning 4 soon. We’ve had a good couple of months. We took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge (an indoor water park), and the boy enjoyed their “mini vacation.” They slept in bunk beds during the trip and had a blast. The boys also traveled to New York for Passover and Easter and had fun learning about different family traditions.

Finally, we saw many doctors last month, and the good news is that Oliver’s egg allergy is slowly improving, so we will see how everything goes at his next test. He is very excited to try eggs soon. We also found out that Clark needs glasses, so he picked out a nice blue frame. We have spent the last several days doing double takes, but are slowly getting used to them.

Here are some pictures from our trip to Great Wolf Lodge. They had a great toddler ropes course there, which the boys loved!

Here are some pictures from our trip to NY for Passover and Easter. The boys were really excited to drink grape juice at Passover and to decorate Easter Eggs and go hunting for them.

A Late Winter in Boston

Happy March to everyone! We managed to have a pretty mild winter only to get hit with multiple snow storms in March. We’ve also had a lot of fun visits from family including Nana/Grandpa, Nana/Nani, Gulnoor Didi, Damini Mausi, and Mukesh Nana/Vandana Nani. The big milestone this month was that we turned their carseats around so they are forward facing!

The boys have had tons of fun playing in the snow! They have been super helpful (or not so helpful) trying to help shovel.

They also have enjoyed visiting the Museum of Science where we have a membership. They even watched their first 4D show (which they thought was very scary).

End of Summer

We've had a great summer and are a little sad to see it end.  From the boys' birthday party, to vacation at the Cape, to swimming at the local lake and pool, to watching adorable Julian grow, to visiting Edaville (Thomas the Train land)!

The boys started preschool last week at the daycare they've been at, and were very excited to move to their new classroom.   They keep informing us that they're "big kids" and not babies.   They love all their teachers and friends.

It's also so exciting to see them learn new information and exponentially expand their vocabulary.  They can now recognize most letters of the alphabet, they ask how things work, and they try to problem solve and do things on their own more and more.   They also can also make inferences and apply knowledge that they learned from one situation to a different one.  They can get their own clothes off as well as put their own shoes on.  They are doing pretend play more as well (they love administering first aid to their stuffed animals!).

Below are some of our favorite pictures from the last month.  We've had a busy summer!

Happy Birthday Boys and Cape Cod Trip

The boys turned 3 in June of this year!  This was the first birthday where they actually realized it was their birthday and were excited to celebrate.  To celebrate, all 4 grandparents visited.  The boys started their birthday weekend with strawberry picking, then had a birthday party with friends and family at a local park.  Baby Julian even was able to make it out for his first birthday party ever.  The boys were able to successfully blow out their own birthday candles, yay!  Their favorite gift from their birthday were their ukeleles, which they have been playing non-stop.

Last week, we did a joint family vacation with the Litthis, Sathis, Litcofskys, and Poepsels to the Cape (Brewster).  The boys had a blast going to the beach, hunting for crabs and kayaking, going to the pool and trying to swim, going out to several meals with the whole family, and trying out mini-golfing for the first time!  The boys even slept in their own big boy beds.  They stated firmly after the trip that they like "cation" (vacation) and keep asking to go back.

Current likes:

Both - "Cation", ukeleles, sorbet, sunglasses, swimming (reach and pull!), swinging, tricycling, new helmets, music class, Nintendo classic, talking to each other late at night instead of sleeping, "Oliver's cereal" (Raisin Bran Crunch), sweet potatoes, salad with raisins

It’s Been Awhile!

It’s been awhile since we have posted!  Life has been super busy, so the blog has been neglected.  The boys are 2 months shy of their 3rd birthday, and so much has happened since our last post (back when they were 16 months).

Since then, the boys had a blast at Aunt Kaitlyn and Uncle Tim’s wedding, celebrated their 2nd birthday, took a cross country trip to California (surviving a red eye!), started daycare (which they love), switched to toddler beds, and potty trained!

Catching up, here are pictures from Kaitlyn’s wedding:

Here are some 2nd birthday pictures:

Current likes:

Both - Danielle, Sesame street, Daniel Tiger, Youtube videos (Yes I Can, Barney Song), bear hats, scooters, crackers, Mac and cheese, watching Daddy cook.

Clark - sunglasses shirt, This is not My Hat book, blue underwear, asking questions with furrowed brow.

Oliver - Waldo shirt, wearing 2 shirts at once, Dear Zoo book.

Current dislikes:

Both - seltzer ("bubbley water"), getting head wet during baths, eating full meals.

To close, the best pictures over the last month:

Haircuts, Apple Picking, Halloween, and More!

The boys are 16 months now!  They are completely off all bottles, have more teeth than we can count, and can say a few words.  Both can say "Mama" and "Dada", but Clark can also say "apple" and "no."  Though they aren't talking much, they are using sign language to get across their points.  They can both sign "more,"  "milk,"  and "food."  And of course, both are really good at shaking their heads "no!"  They can also point out different body parts (eyes, ears, nose, belly).  In terms of food, they are eating 3 meals a day and 1 snack.  Sleep wise, they are now down to 1 nap a day.

Current likes:  hugging each other, dada, giving high fives, food (pizza, fruit, salmon), puzzles, slides, swings, climbing, whatever their brother is currently playing with. hugging each other.  Current dislikes:  sharing toys, diaper changes, putting on clothes, strangers.

A little late, but here is a link to a gallery of the professional photos from the boys' first birthday.

The boys got their first haircuts about 2 months ago.  They had a lot of fun sweeping the floor at the salon, but were skeptical of the haircut itself.

When Nana and Grandpa visited last, we took the boys apple picking.  They had a ton of fun, and loved eating all of the apples they could get their hands on!

The boys were Ninja Turtles for halloween this year.  They had a fun time playing the part, and eating pizza true turtle style.

One of the most amazing things to watch as they get older is their interactions with each other.  Though they fight a ton, they are really into hugging each other these days which is very cute!

Here are some of our favorite pictures from the last couple of months!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Walking!

The boys are now 14 months and walking!  They have 3 solid meals a day, and they have transitioned to drinking whole milk.  We were able to switch all but their bedtime bottles to sippy cups.  They also each have 10 teeth!  They continue on 2 naps a day, and are still sleeping great at night.  Current likes:  blueberries, climbing on everything and anyone, ripping up their playmat, wooden puzzles, throwing food on the ground, cuddling in the morning, sliding, swinging, peak-a-boo (Oliver in particular).  Current dislikes:  the vacuum, mommy leaving the room, diaper changes.  We have a had a busy, but fun summer:

Aunt Kaitlyn visited last month, and the boys had a blast with her!

The boys also had fun making a new friend, Amalia!

The boys had fun lounging at home and outside at the water table.

The boys also had a lot of fun out of the house, visiting playgrounds, hanging out with Thalia and Avram at the Public Gardens, and making a trip to the Children's Museum!

We would also like to thank Nana and Grandpa for babysitting the boys at the end of August so that we could make a trip to Bar Harbor.  While the boys had tons of fun with their grandparents, their parents had a chance to relax, eat good food, and enjoy beautiful views!

Our Trip to NY!

This month we were able to take another trip to NY to visit Nana and Grandpa.  The boys loved being able to see family, and they especially loved the pool that their grandparents had set up in the backyard for them!  Aunt Kaitlyn, Uncle Tim, and Conal Mama were also at home, and both Great Grandmas, Great Aunt Gail, Great Uncle Joe, Great Uncle Mark, Great Aunt Amy, and Aunt Danielle also came by, so it was great to have everyone around.

The boys also had fun hanging out with friends.  Catherine and Dan as well as Neha visited Irvington.  The boys also got to see Rachel and her daughter Sarah in NJ.  The boys really enjoyed playing with Sarah, who is only slightly younger than them.

Towards the end of the trip, the boys were able to have lunch with several family friends, including Simran (Mausi), Bucky, Raahi, Jessica, Gautam, Arya, and Nana and Nani!

Happy 1st Birthday!

The boys turned 1 on June 19th!  This year has flown by, and we feel so lucky to have Clark and Oliver in our lives, getting to play with them and watch as they continuously learn new things.

We celebrated their birthday with both sides of the family, having a weekend of fun!

On the day before the birthday, we had a chance to enjoy the lovely weather outside and take the boys to the park:

The boys' birthday started off like a normal day, but with pictures taken during breakfast at their exact birth times.  Thank you to Great Aunt Gail for the wonderful birthday card!

After the boys' first nap, they got dressed in special first birthday outfits and had tons of fun opening presents!

After presents, it was time for the cake smash.  The boys had a blast!

Happy Birthday Boys!  Here is a link to the full gallery with the rest of the pictures from this weekend.

Sun, Family, and Gym!

The boys are really enjoying their summer so far :)  They love being outside and playing with water.

They are also lucky to continue to have a steady stream of visitors, including Nana and Nani, Great Aunt Amy, Great Uncle Mark, Aunt Danielle, and Great Grandma Bernice.  They even got to have a chance encounter with the Tamarkins!

Happy Mother's Day!

A little late, but wanted to wish all of the mothers out there a Happy Mother's Day.  Kinji was very excited this year to spend her first Mother's Day with the boys.  The boys also decided to take some pictures to wish their grandmothers a Happy Mother's Day as well:

In terms of updates, the boys are now standing!!  They are still only walking with assistance, but we think they will be walking independently soon.  They are eating most foods now, including chicken, bread, beans, and waffles.  They each have 6 teeth, so that helps a lot as well.  We discovered that Oliver may be allergic to eggs (!), but no other food allergies so far.  They are both also developing some stranger and separation anxiety.  Current likes:  rings, Vtech walker (Oliver especially), brushing their teeth, gym class, peak-a-boo, guitars.  Current dislikes:  sharing, mommy leaving the room, diaper changes.

Here are some (also late) pictures from their 10 month shoot as well as a link to the full gallery.
